Deep Patel
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Deep Patel’s interest in solar began in sixth grade, when he built a model of the lunar landing that included a small solar panel. That project sparked a lasting curiosity about how people could generate their own electricity.
While researching solar financing in college, Deep attended Solar Power 2006 in San Jose as a student researcher. In October of that year, he launched GoGreenSolar.com as a blog to share what he was learning about the industry. Soon afterward, he installed a ground-mounted solar system at his childhood home in West Covina — navigating equipment selection, engineering, permitting, utility approvals, and interconnection firsthand showed him how complex the process could be, and helped shape the company’s mission.
GoGreenSolar.com grew from a blog into a solar and battery storage provider. As the vision expanded, Deep reorganized GoGreenSolar into GIGAWATT.
Today, Deep leads GIGAWATT, a distributed energy company that has generated more than $100 million in lifetime revenue and served over 5,000 customers. He is building an integrated platform that combines hardware, software, managed services, and future grid services to help customers take greater control of their energy.
My mission is to help people break free from dependence on the grid and take ownership of their power.
